With an illustrious career spanning decades, GM Taboada has become a revered figure, renowned for his mastery of Balintawak Cuentada Arnis and his invaluable contributions to the martial arts community.
Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, Bobby began his journey in the martial arts at a very young age. His passion and talent led him to train under the tutelage of Grandmaster Teofilo Velez, one of the original members of the Balintawak Arnis Club. Under GM Velez’s guidance, GM Taboada honed his skills, immersing himself in the intricacies of this dynamic and highly effective traditional martial art practice.
After years of dedicated training and teaching, GM Taboada ventured beyond the shores of his homeland, sharing his expertise with eager students across the globe, starting in New Zealand, and then beyond. From the United States to Europe, Asia to Australia, his teachings have reached countless individuals hungry to learn the art of Balintawak. Throughout his decades of teaching worldwide, GM Bobby has also gained the respect and admiration of many of the great martial artists of the past century — including the late great Wally Jay, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, and Dan Inosanto.
Having now settled in the United States for over 30 years, GM Bobby continues to be a shining inspiration and example of martial arts and maintains a strong relationship with his students and instructors who represent him.
